“La Strada” volunteers at Youth Festival
“La Strada” volunteers dedicated several hours of their free time today to inform other teenagers about the importance of civic activism in the field of human rights. The activity took place during the second edition of the Youth Festival, hosted in Chisinau, on the Eugen Doga pedestrian street.
In the context of the International Youth Day, the volunteers Victor and Dina told their own stories about the things that motivated them and the conditions that favored their decision to become volunteers. Also, they distributed informational flyers, brochures and bracelets and told interested teenagers about how they can stay safe in the online environment, and about how should a harmonious couple look like.
Most often, Victor and Dina were asked about the advantages of being a volunteer. While some of the Festival visitors just took informational brochures, the majority were really curious and asked for specific information about who and when can report abuses at Child Helpline, Trust Line for victims of domestic violence and Hotline for safe migration.
The International Center “La Strada” has over 20 volunteers, aged between 17 and 25, annually selected within the “Peer-to-peer” Program. The volunteers are trained in all activity fields of the International Center “La Strada”, which allows for their further engagement in various activities, NGO fairs and round tables, and some of them even become trainers during informational seminars for youth.
