Police officers have learned to identify cases of child sexual abuse online
A range of officers of the General Police Inspectorate have learned effective procedures for investigating cases of online sexual abuse of minors. From July 28 to August 4, 122 investigation officers and community interaction officers, specializing in general prevention and juvenile problems, were trained to investigate crimes using techniques and methods focused on the interests of the child.
Participants discussed the main forms and signs of sexual abuse in the online environment, friendly approaches to minor victims, from the first interaction with the justice system and learned new techniques for securing evidence of abuse.
Until the end of August, the local GPI offices will organize information and awareness-raising activities on the prevention of risks related to online safety of children.
The trainings took place in the context of an information and cooperation partnership established between the International Center La Strada Moldova and the National Inspectorate for Public Security of the General Police Inspectorate, IT Crimes Investigation Directorate.
The initiative was launched in connection with the increase in the number of sexual abuse of minors committed online in the first half of this year, compared to the same period of 2019.
