Bloggers from Moldova made a “Scale of Gender Trash”
Several bloggers and opinion makers from the Republic of Moldova participated in an innovative seminar-training, moderated by Irina Alkhovka, Expert in Women’s Rights and Gender Equality. The activity was organized by the International Center “La Strada”, on the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of its activity in the Republic of Moldova.
During the course, participants got answers to their questions related to feminism, sexism, gender stereotypes, the “woman’s place” etc. As mentioned by the blogger Diana Guja, this seminar was different from others in this field, due to its innovative, creative and accessible approach to the topic of women’s rights.
In order to understand better the subtleties of sexism on the personal and social scale, participants built a so-called “scale of gender trash”, that showed the way in which, from the moment of their birth, children are treated differently whether they are boys or girls.
During the second day of training participants watched together the movie “Mona Lisa Smile”, followed by public discussions on the topic of the film.
